looking for a GPS map that works on my Garmin Legend C, that is detailed enough to allow for off the main road bicycle rides. I spent enough on the GPS without now spending money for a good map.

The traffic receiver works either on a FM broadcast or XM nav traffic depending on service and unit. This will broadcast traffic delays and the unit will give an optional route to avoid the traffic. You could look at this a few ways
1) providing you are in a major city it works great
2) If you have the unit anyway and you know either from radio broadcasts or by looking online that there is traffic in a particular highway and you get off the current route, the unit will always recalculate and get back on route.
I do not use the traffic systems.

I am thinking about buying the garmin nuvi 780 which can hold mp3 files and transmit them through your fm radio. It also has a mini usb port. What i am wondering is if i can attach my ipod to this port and use the garmin to play files on my ipod through my car’s stereo, or if i have to upload music onto the sandisk in the gps system.

They are competing each other. If I were Garmin, why should I program maps such that when compressed into a file can be also used by Tom2x, Magellan etc.. Some maps may not even work in other software navigation system even if they are of the same brand, so it is expected not to work on other brands. But most maps(not the map software) may be supplied by same organization like Navteq.

I am flying to the US on Monday and renting a car from the airport. I would like to us my UK sat nav why I am there but I am not sure if my car charger is compatiable with US cars. It’s connects to the cigerette lighter socket?
