Tomtom One Or Maggelan Roadmate 2000 Or Garmin Streetpilot I3 Vehicle Gps Navigator?

by linkisking on Nov.21, 2009, under Garmin

Hi I am about to purchase a gps car navigation unit, basically I am driving from MO to Orlando and back and think it would be better than mapquest. Of these two that I mentioned above, what would you recommend and what are the pros and cons if you have experienced any? The Magellan and Garmin are almost a hundred bucks cheaper but the Tomtom seem to have more features , I don’t know! But these are the three cheapest models out there. Thanks people.

How Come My Garmin Streetpilot C550 Doesnt Turn On It Work Fine And I Charge It?

by linkisking on Sep.09, 2009, under Garmin

The Garmin tech support folks can tell, but what I’ve heard from a very few folks who’ve had that problem was the tiny, thin wire broke loose from the battery. That might happen it the unit gets slammed hard. The antenna wire is also a very frail wire to watch out for. If you open the unit up and find this problem and solder back the connection, that might fix it. Another problem I’ve heard of is the battery being completely ruined by being left in the car in extremely high temperature. Garmin can repair that, or you can if you get the battery and transplant it. Those batteries have a protection circuit on them- something like a thermistor to protect it while charging. You can look for a replacement with the protector, or take the protector off the old ruined battery and put it on a new battery. Before you open anything, or mail anything, make sure there is power coming from the charger. It’ll say on the screen that the unit is charging and it has completed charging when the time is up.
