Garmin Street Pilot, Is Membership Or Subscritpion Required For Use?

I’m thinking to buy the new Garmin street pilot moidel 2720. I have two questions:
1. Once you purchase the unit, is there some type of monthly memberhsip or subscription you have to pay for, or does the system work as it comes from the box.
2. Has anyone has experience with these things? Are they really worth it and was is the ease of use?

We recently bought a Garmin Street pilot i3 on Ebay. Of course it was used as it is an older gps, but we thought it would be a good starter gps. I need to update my maps, but I can’t register it as it was already. What do I do?

How Do You Up Date Garmin Street Pilot I3.?

connect it to your pc and download the firmware from the garmin website. That is how I did it with my TomTom. It should work with yours too.
