Does Anyone Know How To Use A Garmin 60csx?

The manual isn’t real helpful. I’ve downloaded TOPO onto my computer and would like to start using the 60CSX to guide me in rides in the mountains around S.F. but so far it isn’t getting a lot of use.
With A Garmin 60csx Or Oregon, Can You Go On A Hike And Download Where You’ve Been Onto A Computer?

If so, which one is better for just this? i know that the 60CSx is cheaper, but it can do less. So which would be recommended for downloading where i’ve hiked?
